The Key to Reaching the Next GenerationCan you think back to an adult that had a positive impact on your life? An elementary school teacher, a neighbor, family member, someone who encouraged you when you thought you weren’t good enough, or smart enough? Now more than ever our youth need the attention, affirmation and guidance of a caring adult. The Search Institute identifies such a person in the life of a young person as their most important developmental asset. The Yuinon is excited to announce that in partnership with the US Department of Education, we will impact 300 4th – 8th grade Detroit Youth over the next three years. In our communities, the startling drop out rates, lack of positive role models, correlate with increasing incarceration, joblessness, and overall despair. It is imperative that we get involved, now! There are lots of ways to do so, and every little bit helps, but mentoring is an age-old practice for a reason, it works! We invite you to enrich your own life by mentoring a young person. Let the Yuinon help you help others.
