I. Program Overview

Keys 2 Life is a Yuinon (pronounced union) Inc. music-mentoring program designed to encourage, educate and empower youth through key principles in music.  We are able to accomplish this mission through relevant principle driven music lessons, engaging discussions, introspective journaling, and individual monitoring.  Those who are consistent and commit to this program will be enriched socially, academically, spiritually, psychologically and of course musically.  Many people fail to understand the significant role music plays on the attitude and psyche of young minds.  A study conducted in 2000 by The College Entrance Examination Board, Princeton, New Jersey reported that students taking courses in music performance and music appreciation scored 53 points higher on the verbal and 39 points higher on the math SAT than students with no arts participation.  Our goal is not just to cultivate youth academically but also to help them apply the necessary self-regulatory skills needed to be successful and overcome the many obstacles in life.

Background and Experience:

Keys 2 Life will be facilitated by a production team that has more than a combined 40 years of experience in music production, engineering and performance. Acclaimed artist and music producer Amp Fiddler is a celebrated soul/funk musician who has shared stages and studios with everyone from Prince to George Clinton, and has written songs for artists such as Seal and Maxwell.  Bringing a wealth of industry knowledge, Amp will serve as the lead program facilitator.  Local Detroit Hip Hop legend Jason “Mystro” Wilson, founder of the Yuinon Inc., is considered as one of the pioneers of Hip Hop in the city of Detroit.  He has produced music for the likes of Hip Hop artists Redman, Kurupt and Roscoe.  Jason will serve as a co-facilitator of the program.  His experience in Hip Hop production as well over 10 years of experience in youth development work will provide participants with life application and musical instruction.
